just wondering if placing 4" steel covered styrofoam on the inside of a framed wall would be a practical application? I'm open to using any type of insulation in the wall cavity.
The foil based rigid foam panels may be EPS, but they also may be polyisocyanurate insulation.Do you know which they are? This page here can help you identify them as well as learn the characteristics and best uses.

Thanks for your reply, it is not foil but heavy galv metal as it is walls from a reclaimed wall in cooler, it is open cell. No A/C and I'm in Muskoka,Ontario. Was thinking I would tape the joints as well.

Alright, not what I thought, but without AC there is no great risk I can think of with that. Galvanized steel will for sure be a vapor barrier, and if its taped you've got a pretty reliable air barrier as well it seems!
