There seems to be a design trend of trying to out-cool the previously coolest tiny house, and as long as that keeps happening we will keep having great stories and photos to share. Today's winner is the Fun Box, available for a luxurious weekend rental as of the summer of 2013.

Made by Le Vertendre, the Fun Box is a 360 square foot, energy self-sufficient loft in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, planted at an altitude of 400m with a lake and hiking trails just outside the door.

一个巨大的凸窗让你可以看到周围无与伦比的自然景色,也可以从露台上推出的轮子上的大浴缸中享受大自然的美景。它配备了一个娱乐系统,踏板上的固定自行车和观看所有你想要的。

Multi-use spaces that can convert from one use to another with little effort are paramount to condensed living. We see this often in the Tiny House Movement; it is that very concept that can make living in small spaces comfortable. For both designers and homeowners, such features are sources of pride to be shown off. They demonstrate both a commitment to efficient housing and a keen problem-solving mind.

The rising bed of the Fun Box is one of the more impressive small house features we have seen in a while, and best of all it can be done in less time that it would take to make it. Every kid's dream, the bed you don't have to make.

Notable features:

  • A king size bed and a bunk bed to accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children.
  • Full kitchen: gas stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, tableware.
  • Heating: pellet stove
  • Bathroom facilities: composting toilet, open-air shower, large moveable stainless steel bath.
  • Built in outdoor fireplace on the terrace.
  • Entertainment: human powered television, DVD player and sound system. 15 minutes of pedaling earns you an hour and a half of watching.
