The high-performance house that aims for LEED Platinum certification and is in the process of obtaining Passive House certification from the American PHIUS Institute
The size and shape of the house is inspired by the historical "Saltbox" shape, very common in Estrie and New England, and matching heritage homes in the region. The L-shaped design is south facing to promote passive solar heating and to enjoy the panoramic view of the location.
By building the rear part of the main level on the ground floor, and by opting for a roof slope that follows that of the land, the house follows the topography of the place and maintains privacy from the street.
The materials used are simple and durable: the retaining walls are constructed with excavation stone, the main cladding is white painted wood, and the entrance section is burnt cedar.
在室内,白天的空间围绕中心街区组织,其中包括储藏室、厨房、食品储藏室和浴室。
